Thieves attacking Cheshire homes targeting gold jewellery.
Cheshire Police are urging residents around the county to be vigilant following a series of robberies where gold jewellery has been the prime target.
Some of the thefts have turned violent. In one of the latest incidents occupants were threatened by the the thieves before they escaped with jewellery from the home.
In an incident that happened on the same day, the burglars disabled an alarm system prior to breaking into the property. Again gold was taken, along with a quantity of cash.
Detective Chief Inspector Karen Jaundrill said:
"We are doing all we can to catch those responsible... There has been a rise in burglaries in which family gold seems to have been targeted in Cheshire.
We believe that those responsible are highly organised and are possibly travelling inot the county from further afield to target properties they believe are likely to contain gold."
Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to as part of their inquiries. Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to contact officers on 101.
