Passengers who drive to one of Northern’s popular Cheshire stations to catch the train will see significant improvements to its car park.
Work completed at Disley station has seen both the car park and approach road to the station resurfaced.
The work was carried out in partnership by Northern and Network and adding clearer markings to pedestrian walkways and disabled parking spaces.
The project is part of a £500,000 scheme, to improve car park facilities at 13 Northern stations.
All 13 station car parks will be resurfaced, and some will have improvements made to approach roads and drainage.
Chris Jackson, Regional Director at Northern, said: "This work is a great example of the rail industry working together to improve our passengers’ journeys and will make a significant difference to our customers as they travel along our network.”
The work will mean better facilities for Northern customers and provide a boost to local firms that will help carry out the work.
Rory Kingdon, Senior Sponsor at Network Rail, said: “Improving the facilities at our stations is a key part of our putting passengers first programme. We hope that the new car park surface, which provides greater convenience for passengers, will help entice them back on to trains for work and leisure purposes.”
