Preparations are well underway for Congleton Pride 2024, which this year takes place on Saturday 20th July from 10am throughout the town centre.
Congleton Pride is a festival that celebrates diversity and inclusion for LGBTQIA+ people and everyone is invited to this day out for all the family.
Congleton town centre roads will be closed from 7am to 6.30pm (from just above the bus station up to the end of Moody Street, and High Street to just before Canal Street, with the whole of Lawton Street/High Street closed temporarily during the Parade).
The town will be rainbow-coloured for the day and many shops are already decorating their premises to celebrate Pride. There will be free, family-friendly entertainment on two stages in the town centre, as well as a variety of market stalls and a food and drink village.
Performers on the main stage include:
- Nick Barnes Magician
- Andy Hofton
- Alsager Community Choir
- ABBAsolute Dreams
- Jack Woodward
- LB Dance
- Chasing The Fall
- Hayley Elliot
All supported by hosts Miss Blair and Fonda D
The ‘5 years of Pride parade’ starts at 11am from Back Park Street car park.
Businesses and individuals wishing to join the parade, are asked to contact:
Once again, the community stage will be busy for the whole day, showcasing some of the best local talent. Look out for music, dance and all kinds of entertainment, from members of and allies to the LGBTQIA+ community.
Malcolm Pope, chair of Congleton Pride, said:
“At Congleton Pride, inclusivity is our language and diversity is our strength. Join us in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere where everyone feels valued, respected and celebrated.
“At Congleton Pride, we’re all about embracing diversity, spreading love, and making positive changes for our community. So come and help us celebrate our fifth birthday and let’s paint the town rainbow!”
The Rev. Murray George of Congleton United Reformed Church will be joining the Pride Parade.
He commented:
“I am really delighted that Pride is going from strength to strength in Congleton and has established itself as more than just an annual party, but as a hub of support and inclusion for LGBTQIA+ people. I am very much looking forward to the day.”
The party doesn't stop when Pride ends. Join Radley & Co for The After Party - Let Us Entertain You, featuring Robbie Williams tribute artist, Matt Byrne. Doors open at 6pm with no ticket required.
Ronan Clayton, founding member of Congleton Pride, said:
“I’d like to thank everyone involved for giving up their time to plan our fifth birthday event.
“I’d also like to thank all the stall holders, entertainers and sponsors without whom the event would not be possible. We are also grateful to Congleton Community Projects for helping with the Parade, Town Council officers for all their practical support, and the incredible army of volunteers who make it all happen. I hope everyone comes along and has a fantastic day.”

Congleton Pride Trust formed in 2018 with the mission to make LGBTQIA+ people feel welcome and safe to be open and celebrate who they are in Congleton, and to help the community as a whole understand LGBTQIA+ and stamp out prejudice. Congleton Town had its first Pride event in July 2019 and subsequent Congleton Pride festivals in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
