Officers from the Cheshire Police Sex Offender Management Unit have arrested a man following a warrant in Northwich.
At around 7am today, Friday 4th September, officers executed a warrant at an address on Vicarage Road in Northwich.
A 66-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of numerous offences, including Making of indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children, Distribute indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children and Possession of prohibited images of children.
The man is being held in police custody, and a search is currently underway at the address by dedicated local search officers.
Detective Inspector Louise Austin, of the Sex Offender Management Unit, said:
“Today’s arrest is the result of a detailed investigation by PC Howells, during which a large quantity of child sexual abuse material was discovered and linked to the arrested man.
“We want to make it clear that online child abuse material is not a victimless crime. There are real, innocent children who are forced to endure horrific abuse, and anyone found to be engaging with this kind of content will face the full force of the law.”
