Officers were at the scene within a minute and with assistance from the police dog, a man was arrested nearby. He has been arrested on suspicion of four counts of burglary.
Sergeant Steve Tandy said: “We understand the concern these incidents have caused, and I hope that this morning’s arrest provides reassurance for local residents and the wider business community.
“We are committed to doing all we can to tackle this type of criminality and ensuring that those who are responsible are held accountable for their actions.”
The man has since been released on bail until Wednesday 29 November.
