Residents thanked for recycling efforts as council invites ideas to inspire others

Residents across Cheshire East are being thanked for their efforts to recycle right and reduce waste – and are now being encouraged to share their suggestions to inspire others.

Across Cheshire East, many households are making a big difference every day. 

Whether that’s by carefully sorting their recycling, reusing items where possible or reducing what they throw away – small actions can have a big impact and help make Cheshire East cleaner and greener.

Now, as part of its ‘Be the BIG Difference’ campaign, Cheshire East Council is encouraging residents to share their ideas, habits and practical tips for reducing waste and recycling more at home, helping others to do the same.

Councillor David Jefferay, cabinet member for environment, sustainability and waste management at Cheshire East Council, said:

“Many of our residents are already doing a fantastic job when it comes to recycling and reducing waste, and we want to say a huge ‘thank you’.

“Since launching our Be the BIG Difference campaign earlier this year, we’ve been sharing advice and information to help people recycle more, waste less and feel confident they’re doing their bit for the environment.

“In doing so, we’ve also heard from many residents about the simple but effective ways they reduce waste and recycle more – and there’ve been some great tips.

“Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing some of these tips on the council’s social media channels, while encouraging more people to get involved and share their own ideas.”

Ideas will be shared on the council’s Facebook page.

Cllr Jefferay added:

“I’d also like to thank the council’s waste reduction volunteers who go out across local communities and into schools to help residents understand the importance of recycling, reducing food waste and encourage more people to try composting at home. We are fortunate to have a number of clean teams across the borough who take the time to recycle when litter picking.

“Waste reduction volunteers will be joining council officers at pop-up engagement sessions being held across Cheshire East over the next few months where residents can ask questions they may have about waste and recycling, including the introduction of weekly food waste collections coming in autumn this year. Keep an eye on the council’s Facebook page for details of sessions near you.”
