Officers have arrested two people, seized a large quantity of class A drugs and recovered £40,000 cash following a proactive stop check in Prestbury.
At around 3.15pm on Monday 19th January officers from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit were on patrol in Prestbury when they stopped a silver Volkswagen Tiguan on Shirleys Drive.
Upon approaching the vehicle officers spotted drugs paraphernalia in the footwell and the occupants of the car, a 58-year-old man and 59-year-old woman, both from Macclesfield, were both arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, a quantity of cocaine was recovered.
Following the discovery, officers conducted search warrants at the homes of the two suspects in Macclesfield, where approximately £40,000 cash was recovered along with more class A drugs.
Both suspects are currently being held in custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Sgt Claudia Bolton, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said:
“This investigation is in the early stages; however, I am sure that this provide reassurance for residents in the area and the wider community.
“I also hope that it acts as a warning to other offenders who are thinking about using the Cheshire road network to commit crime.”
The suspect remains in custody at this time where he is being questioned by officers.
