Residents are being encouraged to shine a spotlight on local heroes as Congleton Town Council launches its second annual Town Mayor’s Civic Awards.
The awards recognise unpaid volunteers who make outstanding contributions to the Congleton community.
Whether supporting a community group, leading a local project, or giving their time to a charitable cause, these volunteers are the heart of Congleton. There are seven award categories: Community Involvement, Young Volunteer, Art and Culture, Environment, Wellbeing, Good Neighbour, and Team Award. A special Unsung Hero Award will also be selected by the judging panel.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Robert Brittain said:
“Congleton is full of extraordinary people who quietly give their time, energy and compassion to others. The Civic Awards are our opportunity to thank them publicly and celebrate everything they do to make our town such a special place. If you know someone who makes a difference, please take a few minutes to nominate them."
How to Nominate
Members of the public are invited to submit nominations using a short online form available on the town council’s website. Before completing the form, nominators should read the award criteria carefully. The closing date for applications is Friday 10 April 2026.
To make your nomination stand out, write from the heart in your own words. Be sure to cover the essential details: who you are nominating, what they have accomplished, why they deserve recognition, where their impact has been felt, and how they have made a difference.
The winners will be celebrated and presented with a certificate and commemorative badge by the town mayor at a special ceremony during the Annual Town Meeting on Thursday 14th May 2026.
