Congleton will come together this month to celebrate the people who give their time, energy and commitment to serving their community, as Town Mayor Cllr Suzy Firkin hosts her Civic Parade and Service on Sunday 13th September.
This year’s Civic Service has a special focus on public service, recognising the contribution made by the many volunteers, community groups, charities, organisations and individuals who help make Congleton a thriving and caring place to live.
Local schools, clubs, charities, businesses and community organisations are being invited to join the Civic Parade, bringing their flags, banners or anything that represents the work they do in the town.
The parade will assemble at Antrobus Street Car Park from 1.15 pm and set off at 1.30 pm, led by Rode Hall Silver Band. It will then make its way to Congleton Town Hall, where the Civic Service will begin at 2pm.
The service will include performances from Congleton Choral Society and Rode Hall Silver Band, followed by light refreshments.
Cllr Suzy Firkin said:
“There are so many people in Congleton who give their time to help others and make a difference in our community, often without expecting any recognition. My Civic Service is an opportunity to celebrate that contribution and say thank you to everyone who gives their time, skills and energy in the service of others. Whether through volunteering, supporting a local organisation, helping a neighbour or working to improve our town, every contribution matters.
I hope local organisations will join me for the parade and help us showcase the fantastic community spirit we have here in Congleton. It will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the people who make our town such a special place.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the parade and Civic Service, and organisations can take part in the parade, attend the service, or join for both.
