Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Congleton Park.
At 6.58pm on Friday 9 June a man and a woman were walking through the park when a teenager got into an altercation with them.
At some point between the park and Willow Street a man, who is thought to be known by the group of teenagers present, approached the victim and punched him in the face causing serious injuries.
The suspect is described as white, with a bald head, and aged about 50.
He was wearing a yellow high-vis t-shirt, and black/dark grey workers trousers. He had a large black dog with him.
DC Dave Wilkinson said: “The injuries resulted in the victim having to go to hospital to be treated for his injuries. I understand this may cause some concern in the community, so we have stepped up patrols in the area.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information that would help us identify the suspect to contact us.”
