Police are appealing for information following an assault in Alsager.
At 7pm on 23 September a woman was walking along Station Road when she was approached by a man who began to follow her.
A man driving past at the time stopped his car to assist the victim and she was able to get into the vehicle but was assaulted by the suspect.
PC James Hughes said:
“I’d urge anyone who saw this incident, to contact police if you haven’t done so already.
“The same goes for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.”
A 40-year-old man from Crewe has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
