Applications are now open for the Independent Custody Visitors volunteer role, and everyone is welcome to apply.
The Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner is calling on people in the community to volunteer and make a difference to policing.
Dan Price, Police and Crime Commissioner said:
“I am supported by many volunteers in Cheshire.
“They play an important role in the scrutiny of the Constabulary and their recommendations shape improvements in the way services are delivered. I wouldn’t be able to do my role without their insightful feedback.”
Independent custody visiting is a statutory requirement performed by Police and Crime Commissioners, providing independent oversight to the detention of people in custody.
Dan Price added:
“If you would like to try something different, checking on the welfare of people in Cheshire Constabulary’s custody suites. Making sure they’re offered something to eat and drink, treated with dignity and respect and are afforded what is required by law, then I’d love to hear from you.”
Applications are now open and will close on Friday 23rd January.
Interviews will be held on the 4th and 5th February 2026.
