Local MP, David Rutley, recently participated in a Question & Answer Webinar with members of North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce. The event provided an opportunity for local businesses to raise questions and issues about the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the economy.
Over twenty attendees took part in the engaging Q&A Webinar in which a wide range of issues were discussed. David also provided more details on the Government’s business support schemes and on the steps he is taking to assist local businesses and strengthen the local economy in these challenging times.
During the event, participants put questions to David on matters relating to how we will all move on from the current lockdown, the Government’s Job Retention Scheme; and furloughing employees. Other issues raised included support for self-employed people and Coronavirus Business Interruption Loans. David also discussed issues surrounding the regeneration of Macclesfield Town Centre and plans to help bolster the local economy in the months ahead.
The event was organised by Sue Bowden, Chief Executive Officer at North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, and facilitated by Ceri James, a business coach at ActionCOACH. North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest independent networking and business support organisations in Cheshire. It actively works to better connect businesses and offer its members a range of practical and professional services.
David regularly attends meetings with members of our local Chamber of Commerce but, owing to the coronavirus pandemic, this was the first time he has joined a digital meeting with its members.
Following the Q&A Webinar David said, “I am very grateful to the North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce for helping to arrange this opportunity for me to help answer questions from many local businesses. During these unprecedented times, they are facing real challenges and I am working hard to address their concerns and provide support. I am particularly grateful to Sue Bowden and the Chamber for all that they are doing to support our business community during the pandemic and I look forward to continuing to working with the Chamber in the months ahead.”
