A 42-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a collision in Handforth at the weekend.
Seena Chacko from Tabley Road, Handforth appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on 16 September to face charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, no licence and no insurance. She admitted the offences and is next due to appear at Chester Crown Court on 21 October to be sentenced.
The collision occurred on Saturday 14 September when Chacko was driving a blue Citroen C4 Grand Picasso along Wilmslow Road when she was in collision with a cyclist, knocking her to the roadside.
The cyclist, a 62-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by passers-by and then paramedics before being taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Chacko had carried on along the road with the bike underneath the vehicle before she was stopped by another motorist.
Investigating officer Sgt Russ Sime from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“This was a horrific incident and shocking for those who witnessed it. I’d like to thank those who stopped the car, and those who gave the cyclist first aid while paramedics were called.
“Our thoughts remain with the family of the cyclist at this truly awful time.”
