Pupils, staff, families and Governors of the 15 schools that make up Focus Trust, have successfully raised £4,428 for the NSPCC and Education Support after completing the Trust’s ‘one trust’ health and wellbeing challenge.
Everyone in the Trust’s community were tasked with walking, running, and cycling as far as they could to collectively travel around the word twice, which is approximately 50,000 miles.
As a group, those involved topped original targets and travelled over miles, and the head teacher of Rudheath Primary School successfully cycled over 100 miles in one day as he challenged himself to cycle to all 15 schools in the Trust.
The initiative was set out by the Trust to help people improve their physical and mental wellbeing during the coronavirus lockdown and to raise money for charities that could support everyone from children to teachers to trustees with their mental health.
Cheryl Balance, Assistant Principal at Old Trafford Primary School, set up the initiative and said: “The last school year was incredibly tough on everyone and emotions were high as many couldn’t attend school and rejoice with friends and colleagues alike.
“That is why we thought it was incredibly important to keep our communities connected over the summer period which is why we launched our ‘one trust’ initiative and the response we have got from our community has been phenomenal.”
Presentations will be made to NSPCC and Education Support during a Trust wide Zoom Assembly on 10th December.
Focus Trust is a charitable multi-academy trust which is based in the North West of England with a vision of ‘great academies at the heart of our communities’ and providing engaging and challenging learning environments where the children and staff are happy.
