This year promises to be an exciting one for Congleton. It is the 750th anniversary of the town getting its first Charter and becoming a Market Town.
Businesses will have the opportunity to become a part of the year-long celebration by sponsoring a heraldic banner that will be placed along Mountbatten Way and West Street roundabout area.
The banners will be 2m long, double-sided and will hang from brackets on the lamp posts. The four alternating designs will observe heraldic tradition using bright strong colours and will be symbolic and pertinent to Congleton to reflect the market town’s history. Businesses signing up to sponsor a banner will have their company name and logo prominently displayed on the banner.
Jackie MacArthur, Communities and Marketing Manager for the Town Council said: “Banners will be sold on a first come first served basis with a maximum of two banners per business. Banners cost £250 plus VAT each. To get involved all businesses need to do is complete the registration form and send us a good quality logo and details of what to include and we’ll take care of the rest. It is anticipated that the banners will go up in March and remain for the year. The banners will be allocated to give a balanced mix of designs, but we will do our best to accommodate any preferences.
Jackie continues: “We have been approached by several local businesses interested in being a sponsor of other activities taking place during this important year for Congleton. For an additional £250 businesses can become an event sponsor. This will give them a name check on printed publicity produced for Town Council run 750 events and on the associated web and social media pages.
