A man has been banned from entering Macclesfield town centre for the next two years after being issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order.
Stephen Cooke, of Mill Lane, Macclesfield, was handed the order at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Friday 23 June.
The 59-year-old is banned from entering Macclesfield town centre, including the South Park area.
The CBO, which was applied for by Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, prohibits Cooke from entering the area set out in the map, being seen in a public place with an open alcohol container, and sleeping outside in a public place when an offer of housing has been made by the local authority.
The order also bans him from urinating or defecating in an open public space, or being drunk in any public place or open space.
Sergeant Matthew Bassirat of Macclesfield LPU said:
“Cooke has become a real problem in the town, so I am thankful this order has been granted.
“He will be under the CBO until 21 June 2025, and if he fails to comply with any of the conditions, he could face time in prison.
“CBOs are just one of the ways we can protect residents and communities, and we will continue to do everything we can to protect those who work, visit, and live in the local area.”
Anyone who encounters Cooke breaching any of the above restrictions is urged to contact Cheshire Police via:
