Bollington Singers, a friendly community choir, are looking for any and all men that would like to sing with them.
There is plenty of scientific evidence showing how good singing in a choir is for your health: it reduces stress, strengthens your breathing, lifts your mood, can help to reduce blood pressure, gives your brain a workout, and much, much more.
It’s also just great fun. What other options do you have in your everyday life to scream at the top of your lungs without causing trouble? Singing in a choir is a fantastic way to let off steam in a socially acceptable way, just let all your worries and frustrations go at the top of your voice.
Bollington Singers, a friendly community choir are looking for any and all men that would like to sing with them. Launched in April 2023 by award-winning conductor Hannah Brine, the mixed-voice choir sings a range of exciting repertoire and performs every term.
Everyone is welcome and there are no auditions. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings at Bollington Cross C of E Primary School.
Choir member Jerry Smith, a Bollington resident, said “It’s one of the best things I’ve done for ages, really good fun. Everyone is really friendly and Hannah is really encouraging and supportive.”
Hannah Brine, choir founder and leader, said:
“If you’ve not sung much before, being in a choir is a great way to explore your singing voice in a totally safe space without being put on the spot. We offer taster sessions so if you aren’t quite sure if the choir is right for you why not book one of those and try us out for size?”
Hannah’s choirs have performed at the BBC Proms, Royal Variety Show, Olivier Awards and many other events. She was awarded an inaugural BBC Unsung Hero Award for her work with community choirs in 2015.
