MINISTER OPENS CHESHIRE’S FIRST ENABLING EMPOYMENT VIRTUAL JOBS FAIR

Justin Tomlinson MP, Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, recently opened Cheshire’s first Enabling Employment virtual jobs fair to help people with health conditions into employment.

The Minister’s involvement in this important local event followed an invitation from Macclesfield’s MP, David Rutley.

At the event held on 25^th November, David gave a welcoming statement to all participants and spoke alongside the Minister. He explained how this latest virtual jobs fair had been tailored to not just highlight available vacancies in a challenging labour market, but also to put the spotlight on the support that is on hand to assist those with underlying health conditions.

Whether job seekers were trying to enter the job market for the first time, wanting to further progress their career or seeking advice from the support organisations that were involved, the event was able to cater for them all. Participating employers had the opportunity to promote their organisation and showcase their vacancies, as the event enabled them to connect with a wide audience of potential employees from across Cheshire.

The Jobs Fair was a great success with around 1,500 vacancies being advertised to over 7,000 viewers. The number of viewers continues to rise as the event is available to be viewed online on demand. The event was held in partnership with a large number of organisations which support local jobseekers, including: The Growth Company, Seetech Pluss, Cheshire & Warrington LEP, Cheshire East Council, The Pledge and Learn Live, and supported by local employment teams, disability advisors and work psychologists.
