Following on from the success of award-winning Nantwich Food Festival 2025, the festival has announced the results of two eagerly contested competitions.
Karen Young organised the Nantwich Bake-off, which was sponsored by Cheerbrook Farm Shop, who were very generous with their prizes; this year’s contest was to bake a Jamaican Ginger Cake:
3rd Prize was won by young, keen baker, Erin Rowe of Nantwich; 2nd Prize by another Nantwich resident, Mitch Clarke and 1st Prize of a Deluxe Hamper & Afternoon Tea for 2 Voucher was won by very happy Victoria Owen of Sandbach.
Bake-off judges were baking experts, Reaseheath’s Sam Copeland, home economist & food stylist, Jill Weatherburn, plus Deborah Hitchen of Cheerbrook.
Turning to another festival competition, the final counting of the many votes has now taken place for the Best Shop Window Display Competition. This is a keenly fought competition each year, with many Nantwich businesses going the extra mile to ensure their window is in with a chance of a rosette.
Food Festival Town Liaison Manager, Jackie Stringer is keen to thank all the businesses that took part; she tells us:
“All the work that the following businesses did made the town look so lovely in the run-up to the festival and also provided a great family activity for the school holiday period in checking out our windows around town.
I would like to thank: A.T. Welch, Bloom Edit, Nettle, Cherry-on-Top, St Martha's, Nantwich Bookshop, Webb House, Gas Flame Centre, Oxleys, Nantwich Cheese Shop, KBA Financial, and Ableworld.
There were many more than usual entries, so this is clearly popular with local residents as well as town businesses. 6 people who voted in this competition have been selected at random and will each win a £25 voucher for one of our food retailers in town. These vouchers were donated by: A.T.Welch, Nantwich Bookshop Coffee Shop, Cherry-on-top, Nantwich Cheese Shop, Bear & Boost and Brookshaws and we thank them for this.”
Jackie finished saying:
“The next festival event of the year is the presentation of the Nantwich Food Awards on 10th October, so we look forward to hearing the results of all those votes cast by the local residents.”
