Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire have launched their ‘Out on the Road’ campaign, delivering a series of water safety talks at nurseries and pre-schools across the local area.
The initiative aims to promote water safety to the local community throughout the Summer, a time in the UK when deaths by drowning hit their peak, particularly throughout July. Drowning is also amongst the 10 leading causes of death for children, making raising awareness of water safety imperative for Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire.
The sessions include interactive elements with Puddle the Duck alongside a swim teacher, ensuring they are both educational and fun for the children. They also include a free lesson with Puddle Ducks for every child.
Commenting on the success of one of their recent talks, Rachel Bateson of Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire said: “We had a great time at Barton Community Nursery teaching the children how to float like a starfish and tread like a duck, these are life skills that could save them should they ever fall into water. We are holding a “Splashabout” water safety talk at Barons Quay in Northwich on the 11th of July, a small event with face painters, colouring in and a balloon modeller, with sessions upstairs to learn about water safety. We’ll also be touring the Northwich and Cheadle Hulme throughout June and July, so ask anyone interested to please get in touch”.
The new campaign is the latest initiative from Puddle Ducks, who are not only committed to teaching children across the area how to swim, but to also to equip them with the water safety knowledge and confidence, should they ever find themselves in an emergency situation, something the swim school also demonstrate with their Pyjama Week.
Allowing children to experience what it feels like to be submerged in water fully clothed, Pyjama Week helps children to understand the actions they would need to take to reach safety, Rachel commented: “Our Pyjama Week is always really popular, wearing your favourite pyjamas, jumping in the water and completing activities is a novelty all children enjoy, and a memory that will stay with them – helping if they ever find themselves in trouble in the water. Everyone involved had a lot of fun!”
Puddle Ducks provides award winning swimming classes for children from birth to 10 years old. Teachers focus on creating a nurturing environment, which supports independent swimming for children of all abilities.
