Ahead of His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation, David Rutley MP, visited The Flower Pot Family Pub and Restaurant in Macclesfield to celebrate Robinsons Brewery’s limited edition Coronation ale.
During the visit, David learned about the rich heritage of Robinsons Brewery. As proud custodians of a 6th generation family business, Managing Directors, William and Oliver Robinson have followed the traditions of their forefathers by commissioning a special bottling of their Old Tom strong ale – which was first brewed in 1899 when Queen Victoria was on the throne - to mark this special occasion.
This bottled beer has been crafted as a gift to employees and licensees. Robinsons Brewery also marked the occasion with another Coronation beer available on draft in their public houses. With a long history of over 184 years, this local business has now brewed a special beer for three coronations.
In recognition of his support for the social value of pubs, the Brewery has referenced the King’s role in the founding of “Pub is the Hub” – a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping people to connect and work together to support and sustain their local services.
After the visit, David said, “Robinsons Brewery is known as a jewel in the crown of the British brewing and pub industry, supplying many pubs in and around Macclesfield which continue to be hubs for their communities. I am grateful to William and Oliver for inviting me to The Flower Pot to commemorate King Charles III’s Coronation – I hope local residents will have had the chance to join them in raising a glass of their Coronation ale to His Majesty.”
