A new Diverse Designs shop has been opened by Vivo Care Choices at Hazelmere in Winsford, providing an opportunity for people with learning disabilities and autism to create gifts for others to enjoy.
An in-house service at Cheshire West and Chester Council, Vivo offers a range of support for people with learning disabilities and autism in the community.
Not only will this project provide training and development opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism supported by Vivo, but Your Housing residents at Hazelmere and people accessing Vivo’s older people day services will also be able to visit the new shop for affordable food and goods.
Diverse Designs was originally opened at the Forum Shopping Centre a couple of years back and Hazelmere is the latest addition to the chain of shops.
Some of those who have been involved with Vivo’s Work and Voluntary Enterprise (WAVE) programme, teaching people a range of new skills, will be part at this new shop.
Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said:
“Vivo’s various shops and cafés across west Cheshire provide many benefits for people with learning disabilities and autism.
“The addition of the shop at Hazelmere will help people in the local area become more independent and move on to volunteering or employment in the future.
“Many of the products on sale at the shop will have been created by people accessing Vivo’s services, bringing plenty of joy to others.
“The shop will act as a friendly social hub for those who live at Hazlemere, or access services there, so they can have a chat and enjoy each other’s company.
“Anyone visiting the area is welcome to pop into the shop and browse the many products that will be on sale at Diverse Designs.”
