A new support group for expectant families considering a Home Birth has been set up in Crewe.
The group is free to attend and will be held on the second Tuesday of every month at The Haven on North Street, Crewe, CW1 4NJ. 6pm to 7.30pm (apart from August and December).
This area is incredibly fortunate to still have a Home Birth service, from Leighton Hospital and we hope to welcome Oak Team midwives to the group as and when their workloads allow.
Home Birth is proven to be at least as safe if not safer than birthing in hospital yet only 3% of births locally are recorded as having happened at home. Additionally there is evidence to suggest that even planning a Home Birth can reduce the chances of a birth ending in instrumental or surgical support even if a transfer to hospital is necessary.
Mel says:
“Safety and reduced physical and mental trauma are the outcomes we all want to see for our Mums and pregnant people in the area. This group will provide connection, information and communication about Home Birth for those families considering a Home Birth or who just want to find out more before they make a decision either way.
Joy says:
“We would really like to host families who have had a Home Birth either after attending our group or not, to share their birth stories with our expectant families. Stories are an important way to share information and while everyone is different, over time these stories will add up to a positive force.”
Clem says:
“All three of us firmly believe in the power of Home Birth to improve mental and physical health outcomes for babies, parents and the wider family and are happy to be volunteering our time to bring this information to and build community for the families of Crewe and the surrounding areas”
You don’t need to book, just turn up on the day.
All the family is welcome.
