Police in Macclesfield have shut down a property in the town that made residents' lives a misery.
The property on Newton Street in Macclesfield, was closed down on Friday 23rd January, after officers from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit were successful in obtaining a Closure Order from Warrington Magistrates’ Court.
During the hearing, officers submitted a substantial amount of evidence relating to anti-social and drug-related activity at the address.
The occupant of the property has now been ordered to leave and find alternative accommodation, with all windows and doors being secured for a period of three months.
Anyone who enters the address during that time will be committing a criminal offence and could be faced with a fine or prison sentence.
Police Sergeant Matthew Bassirat said:
“I welcome the news that, today, this disruptive address on Newton Street, Macclesfield, has now been closed down. Hopefully, those living in the community will feel reassured that these are issues we take seriously.
“We will always listen to concerns from residents in relation to criminality and anti-social behaviour in their communities. If you, or anyone in your local community, has any concerns about troubling behaviour, contact your local beat team and let us do the rest.”
Anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour in their area is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via the Cheshire Police website or by calling 101.
