Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a serious collision between a van and a pedal cyclist near Northwich.
At around 4.25pm on Tuesday 26 September, police were called to reports of a collision at the junction of Smithy Lane and the A533, Runcorn Road, in Bartington.
Officers attended the scene and found that the collision involved a pedal cyclist and a white Vauxhall Astra van, which was towing a trailer.
The cyclist, a 75-year-old local man, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Aintree Hospital via air ambulance. His condition is currently described as life threatening.
The driver of the van, a 33-year-old local man, was uninjured.
An investigation into the collision has been launched and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any dashcam footage.
Inspector Steve Griffiths, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and we’re committed to doing all we can to establish what took place.
“The collision occurred on Smithy Road, at the junction of Runcorn Road, and as part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area and may have witnessed the incident or seen the cyclist or van driving in the area.
“The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation.”
