Officers investigating a fail-to-stop collision in Winsford are appealing for information to trace the vehicle believed to be involved.
At around 12.07am on Thursday 1st January, officers were made aware of serious collision on High Street in Winsford, at the junction of Collingham Way.
The collision involved a pedestrian and a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.
The pedestrian, a 62-year-old local man, sustained serious injuries to his legs and was subsequently taken to North Staffordshire Hospital, where he remains at this time. His injuries are believed to be life changing.
As part of their investigation into this incident, officers are now appealing to anyone who may have information about the vehicle involved. This is believed to be an ‘09’ registered Volkswagen Eos in dark blue with a carbon-coloured offside wing mirror and is missing the nearside wing mirror.
Detective Sergeant Russel Sime, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“This was a very serious incident which has left the victim with life-changing injuries. We are still appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please come forward as we carry on our investigation.
“We would also urge anyone who sees the vehicle which is believed to be involved, or has any other information as to its whereabouts, to contact us.”
