CVS are asking the nation to join then this Thursday 14th May at 8 pm, when you #ClapForTheNHS please also #CheerForTheVolunteers.
Tens of thousands of volunteers across the country are providing critical support to our communities in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Volunteers are directly supporting the physical and mental health of the most vulnerable in our society as people live in isolation during the lockdown period. Meal deliveries, prescription pick-ups, virtual befriending services, food banks, support hotlines, and so much more, it cannot be overstated how pivotal community volunteers have been during this time in our history.
From informal volunteers supporting a neighbour to volunteers part of a charity led service, each volunteer has played a significant role in keeping our communities safe, healthy and connected.
This Thursday will be our first 'Cheer For The Volunteers'. When we clap for the NHS every Thursday going forward, we'll also be cheering for the volunteers in appreciation, recognition and just as importantly, in celebration, we hope you will join us.
Not only will it help highlight the vital importance volunteering has played in our nation's response to the COVID-19 epidemic, but the gratitude shown will also encourage more people to volunteer and support charitable services after the crisis has passed.
Community & Voluntary Service Cheshire East work to support and help voluntary sector organisations develop with guidance, advice and training on governance, funding, volunteer recruitment, project management.
There are many 'CVS' type organisations across the UK, generally one per council borough. All are working similarly, but independently and with services tailored to the needs of their local community.
