Cheshire Woman of the Year Award returns and calls for local businesses to take part

The Cheshire Woman of the Year Award, which celebrates inspirational women and fundraises for the NSPCC, is returning this year, and calling on local businesses for support.

The Award has been recognising amazing women since 1984 and has raised nearly £300,000 over the last 35 years to help children across Cheshire and Wirral.

It recognises women from all walks of life who have shown great personal courage, achieved outstanding professional success, or given exceptional service to their local community.

Nominations for the awards have been extended to Thursday, April 7 – so there’s still time to nominate your Cheshire Woman of the Year at:

www.cheshirewomanaward.org.uk

The winner will be announced at an awards event on Wednesday, June 15, with money raised going to the NSPCC to support young people in the area.

The event relies on the generosity of sponsors and funding from Cheshire businesses, and organisers are calling on local companies to help the awards ceremony support children and young people across the region.

There are several ways to offer your support, including making a donation to the event, advertising in the programme, sponsoring a table at £350, or providing a raffle prize.

Sylvia Cheater MBE, Chair of the Cheshire Woman Award committee, said: “The Cheshire Woman of the Year celebration is a way of paying tribute to all the women across the region who have made a real difference to their communities: many are unsung heroines. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, it also raises much-needed funds for the NSPCC. In the current economic climate, the need is even greater. All the money raised is used to help children and families in Cheshire and Wirral – including support for ChildLine”.

Deborah Sefton, Community Fundraising Manager for the NSPCC said: “I would encourage anyone who is inspired by an amazing woman they know to nominate them for the Cheshire Woman Award 2022. Over the years, truly remarkable women have been recognised by the Committee, and vital funds raised for the NSPCC.

“Thanks to their generosity, we will be able to reach even more vulnerable children when they need us the most – whether it’s through Childline, our Helpline, in schools or one of our therapeutic service centres.”
