Congleton in Bloom is inviting residents to roll up their sleeves and help prepare the town for this year's RHS Britain in Bloom judging as part of its next Town Tidy Day on Saturday 6th June, from 10am - 12pm.
The event takes place during Volunteers’ Week (1–7 June), the annual UK-wide celebration of volunteering, providing the perfect opportunity to recognise and thank the many people who give their time to help keep Congleton looking its best.
Volunteers will meet at the Community Garden, Lawton Street, where efforts will focus on the town centre, part of the judging route. Activities will include removing weeds, cleaning street signs and street furniture, gardening, and litter picking to ensure the town looks its very best ahead of judging.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to take part. No experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and community spirit. All equipment will be provided, but volunteers are advised to wear sensible clothing and footwear suitable for outdoor work.
Glen Williams, Congleton’s dedicated Town Tidy Champion, said:
"It was fantastic to see more than 25 people supporting our last Town Tidy, we’re hoping for another fantastic community turnout! The difference volunteers make is incredible, and with Britain in Bloom judging approaching, every helping hand really counts. Whether you can spare an hour or the whole morning, we'd love to see you at the Community Garden and help showcase Congleton at its very best."
Glen continues:
"Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. During Volunteers’ Week, we want to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of everyone who has supported Congleton in Bloom over the years. Whether you volunteer regularly, help at occasional events, or have contributed in the past, your efforts have played a vital role in our success and helped make Congleton a town we can all be proud of."
Congleton in Bloom hosts Town Tidy Days on the first Saturday of every month, with activities ranging from planting and weeding to litter picking and environmental improvement projects. Locations vary throughout the year.
