Local estate agent, Gascoigne Halman, has handed over a cheque for three thousand pounds to support East Cheshire Hospice almost a year after the country went into its first lockdown and the charity’s fundraising efforts were severely impacted.
On hearing of the challenges faced by charities, the team at Gascoigne Halman were keen to do something to make a difference. They chose the hospice as it supports people from a wide area, mirroring the communities served by the agent’s 22 offices.
Speaking about the donation, Executive Chairman, John Halman said, “The property sector has been one of the least impacted by the pandemic with our operations continuing to keep people moving, albeit under strict Covid conventions.
“We wanted to do something to give back to the people in the communities we serve and a donation to East Cheshire Hospice felt wholly appropriate.”
The generous agent has undertaken a number of fundraising initiatives and challenges over the years, raising tens of thousands of pounds in support of a number of local charities including East Cheshire Hospice.
Picking up the story, Managing Director, Peter Higham said, “We have enjoyed supporting East Cheshire Hospice in the past through a mix of company-wide fundraising initiatives and local offices undertaking one-off, smaller, fundraisers such as charity walks and bake sales.
“No matter the size of the donation, it is always warmly received by the hospice and you get a real sense of the difference it will make.”
Karyn Johnston, Chief Executive of East Cheshire Hospice said, “It has been a really tough year in all sorts of ways and the need for our work has never been greater, but we are incredibly grateful for this kind of support from Gascoigne Halman, a company that really cares, is all we need to carry on.”
