East Cheshire NHS Trust has announced the expansion of its diagnostic services at Congleton War Memorial Hospital, as part of the exciting Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) development.
The first phase of the development has seen the site undergo extensive refurbishment and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, creating a ‘one-stop shop’ for essential diagnostic tests, allowing patients to access multiple tests in a single visit.
A range of services are now available for patients, including non-obstetric ultrasound, ophthalmology tests, and cardiorespiratory diagnostics, all delivered from this purpose-designed facility.
The same dedicated staff from both Macclesfield and Congleton Hospitals will also continue to provide exceptional care, ensuring a seamless and familiar experience for patients.
The hospital, managed by East Cheshire NHS Trust, celebrated 100 years of service in 2024, after originally opening in 1924 as memorial to the local people who were killed in the First World War. The development of the new CDC at this historic site will ensure that the hospital remains a pivotal part of the community for generations to come.
Lucy Tideswell, Operational Manager for Clinical Business Developments at East Cheshire NHS Trust, said:
“With the expansion of our diagnostic services at Congleton War Memorial Hospital, we are thrilled to offer our patients quicker access to essential tests and faster diagnoses.
“This development is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care, and will greatly benefit our community by enhancing diagnostic capabilities, reducing waiting times, and improving patient outcomes.”
Additionally, the hospital offers free onsite parking, making it even more convenient for patients to access these vital services.
Looking ahead, phase two of the project promises further exciting developments at the hospital site, with plans to expand services and enhance access to diagnostic care across East Cheshire.
