Forest Holidays is getting ready to welcome guests to its brand-new location in Delamere Forest, Cheshire and on Friday 26 March unveiled the new location to local MP Edward Timpson.
Delamere Forest is home to a brand-new collection of eco-sensitive cabins set amidst the Cheshire Plain spanning 2,400 acres of broadleaf and evergreen trees.
The opening will bring a total of 60 new jobs to the area.
The Which Recommended Provider of holiday cottages 2020 will open its newest location to guests on 12 April 2021 in line with the government road map for staycations.
The new location features 66 eco-sensitive cabins designed to allow guests to immerse themselves in nature and connect with the natural world. The cabins are built in a unique way with a pioneering design which fits around the forest, using a technique which allows cabins to be carefully assembled between the trees and rainwater to drain naturally into the forest floor.
MP for Eddisbury, Cheshire, Edward Timpson, commented,
“Delamere Forest has been walked, run, cycled and climbed by my own family for many years, so it’s great to see this latest addition for local residents and those further afield to get even closer to Cheshire nature. Forest Holidays will also bring welcome employment and economic activity to our area as we begin the road to recovery.”
Delamere Forest is the first Forest Holidays location to use a new piling technology to create the cabins. A lightweight micro pile system which mimics a tree root system has been used and is installed with simple portable tools to ensure they are extremely low impact and ecologically sensitive. This process protects the forest floor, ensures that nearby trees are unaffected and soil movement is minimalized.
Over the last 12 months, Forest Holidays has continued to move forward with the creation of its newest location, as part of Delamere Forest’s Masterplan, recruiting local people and engaging with the community and businesses.
Bruce McKendrick, Chief Executive of Forest Holidays commented: “Given that tourism and hospitality has been one of the most significantly affected sectors during the pandemic, we are delighted to be offering a range of new, year-round full and part time job opportunities. We have now recruited 75% of our team, with the majority living within 10 miles of Delamere Forest. Over 60% of our new team were previously out of work or sadly made redundant due to coronavirus.”
Forest Holidays has a long heritage and strong track record in bringing tourism, jobs and sustainable income to rural economies throughout Great Britain. Working in partnership with local businesses, Forest Holidays actively encourages guests to go out and explore local areas which helps to create a vibrant year-round tourist economy bringing long term benefits to local communities, businesses, and people.
Bruce McKendrick continues “As normality resumes in the months ahead, we look forward to playing our role in helping the local economy to recover and grow. Our year-round occupancy will allow us to make a stable contribution, with our visitors expected to generate an estimated £2.4 million annually for the local economy.”
The brand-new location offers guests the choice of stylish Hideaway cabins made for two, spacious treehouses which sleep up to 10 guests and more, including new White Willow Premium cabins exclusive to Delamere Forest.
Close by are two natural playgrounds complete with mini cabin, play kitchen, parkour ropes and wobble bridges. Guests can also uncover the secrets of the forest with Forest Ranger Adventures unique to Forest Holidays or explore the woodland trails that surround their cabin on bikes and Segway’s.
Delamere Forest itself offers a huge range of things to do from biking and walking trails to a Go Ape zipwire experience and one-of-a-kind activities provided by local suppliers Cheshire Outdoors, including falconry and archery.
