Despite Storm Darragh battling much of the UK over the weekend, the Knutsford Community Crib Service, originally planned to beside the crib outside the Lost and Found, went ahead as planned thanks to Knutsford Methodist Church providing shelter in their church.
Despite the weather, the church was filled with Knutsford residents who had braved the storm to enjoy the short service, which was led by Knutsford Ministers, Rev Paul Deakin: Mayor’s Chaplin, Rev Nigel Atkinson and Rev Sincere Makunde.
Attendees were treated to beautiful carol performances by the Manor Park Primary School Choir, along with traditional readings. The spirit of the season shone brightly as families and individuals of all ages joined together in reflection and celebration.
The Mayor of Knutsford, Cllr Colin Banks, said:
“This year’s crib service was a wonderful start to the festive period. Storm Darragh may have altered our plans, but it couldn’t dampen the Christmas spirit. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the event possible, especially the talented Manor Park Primary School Choir, whose performance truly set the tone for the season.”
Civic Events Officer Gemma Jackson thanked everyone who came together last minute to ensure the change of plan went smoothly, especially to the stewards at Knutsford Methodist Church and to the parents, teachers and children of Manor Park Primary School Choir. She also thanked Knutsford Catenian’s for providing the refreshments after the event.
