Macclesfield Town are delighted to confirm the signing of versatile 27-year-old Lewis Wilson, who has agreed a season-long deal at the Moss Rose.
Lewis embarked on his football career as a striker at Rushden & Diamonds, where he completed his youth scholarship. The 6ft 2" Londoner went on to join Newport Pagnell Town in 2011, where he proved to be a prolific infront of goal - hitting 23 goals in 20 appearances for The Swans.
This rich vein of form attracted interest from a wealth of higher division sides and Lewis ultimately opted for a move to Sixfields in order to join Northampton Town in January 2012.
It was during this spell with The Cobblers that Lewis was first acquainted with current Silkmen manager, Tim Flowers - who was the Club's goalkeeping coach at the time.
Wilson then gained valuable experience between 2013 and 2018 (most notably at Oxford City and Cambridge City), before signing a permanent deal with Stratford Town.
It was during his time at Knights Lane that Lewis primarily made the transition to the role of right-back - whilst also employed as a combatative central-midfielder on occasion.
Lewis would go on to make 82 appearances for Town - scoring 10 goals in the process and this edged his overall career total ever closer to the 250-game milestone
During the summer, Lewis' services have attracted much interest and as such, we are thrilled that he decided to join us here at the Moss Rose.
