Lyme Park Is Branching Out Into Summer

To celebrate English Tourism Week, local MP, David Rutley visited the National Trust’s Lyme Park, alongside General Manager Kellie Scott, to highlight one of Cheshire’s most enjoyed beauty spot’s plans for summer.

The 1400 acres of land became a haven for people during the pandemic; with its ancient woodlands and formal gardens, Lyme Park provided a solace to enjoy the fresh air and green spaces. Over the past two years Lyme Park has seen record levels of visitors, with this now continuing with the easing of public health restrictions.

At the meeting Ms Scott confirmed that for the first time in two years Lyme Park is able to bring back summer opening hours, allowing people to enjoy the lighter evenings during their visits. From now until October, Lyme Park will be open from 9:30am till 8pm with free entry from 4:30pm. More information on what is available within Lyme Park can be found on their website:

David was informed how in 2019, adverse weather conditions saw Lyme Park exposed to severe flooding and to ensure further damage is limited, Lyme Park has highlighted exciting future plans to invest in flood mitigation to protect the estate and its heritage. The plans also include new visitor infrastructure, both of which will be developed over the next few years, with more details to follow soon.

Speaking after the meeting, David said, “Lyme Park is a great destination which really puts North East Cheshire on the map. Lyme Park provides a variety of experiences and allows visitors to immerse themselves in its unique culture and heritage, whilst the surroundings provide real benefits for physical activity and mental wellbeing. It is great to see the continued high number of people visiting Lyme Park - it plays a vital role in our local visitors economy.”
