Museum of Policing Open Day has been cancelled

In line with national guidance, following the death of Her Late Majesty The Queen, the Museum of Policing's Open Day on Saturday 17th September has been cancelled.

Once a new date has been confirmed, a further update will be issued.

These are the details released on the 6th September, before the Monarch's death:

Visitors are being invited to take a tour through the ages as The Museum of Policing hosts its annual open day on Saturday 17 September.

The Museum, found on Arpley Street, Warrington, is home to a huge collection of historical police artefacts, including handcuffs and shackles, murder weapons and police equipment that have been preserved from local police stations throughout Cheshire.

The famed Victorian cell within the museum also gives visitors the chance to experience life behind bars and is always a talking point throughout the day.

From 10am to 4pm, the free open day will give visitors the opportunity to meet local officers and find out more about policing in the Warrington and Cheshire area.

It will feature a meet and greet with the dogs from Cheshire Police’s Dog Unit, along with entertainment provided by the Cheshire Constabulary band.

The public will also have the opportunity to take a look at the force’s Drone Unit, an armed response vehicle from Alliance and other police vehicles.

The museum is an independent charity run by volunteers in co-operation with Cheshire Constabulary to allow members of the public the chance to explore the history of policing within the region.
