Northwich Town Council has been named headline sponsor and official partner for soapbox event Krazy Races, taking place in Verdin Park later this month.
The event will be held on Sunday, June 26th and is set to be the wackiest event in Northwich this year as teams battle it out in wild and zany go-kart soapboxes while raising funds for charity.
The Krazy Races event will see thousands of spectators watching carefully crafted karts hurtle down a track in Verdin Park, aiming to avoid chicanes, obstacles and more. The event comes after over 10,000 people attended Shrewsbury Krazy Races in May, raising thousands for headline charity Macmillan and other local charities chosen by racers.
Graham Emmett, Northwich Mayor said: “I am really looking forward to it, it is going to be a great event for the town and I will be watching on the day in the closing yards of the track.
“One of my friend’s sons worked for Red Bull in charge of their soapbox team and I have always been interested in the soapbox racing.”
Northwich is no stranger to hosting big and crazy events after regularly hosting the Thundersprint, a festival for bike fans that become known as Northwhich’s own Grand Prix.
Teams in this month’s Krazy Races are going for the fastest speed as well as the trophies for ‘fastest winner’, ‘best dressed’, ‘most innovative design’ and more.
Krazy Races, a Sarah Belcher Events company production, is working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support in Northwich following the success of the partnership for previous events.
Danny Scoffin, Northwich Krazy Races Head of Marketing, said: “We are delighted to welcome Northwich Town Council on board as our headline sponsor and official partner. We are so grateful for the support and are really looking forward to bringing the event to Northwich.”
Following Northwich Krazy Races on June 26th, Krazy Races will also head to Wolverhampton on August 21st for its final event of the year. Both events are free for the public to attend.
