Macclesfield's legendary Mash Guru Bar will be awash with words on May 15th, when three top performance poets come to town to take part in the latest edition of the popular spoken word event, Poetry Pandemonium, it has been announced.
Regular host and organiser Mark Rawlins (aka Mark the Poet) said:
'Poetry Pandemonium aims to bring the very best in spoken word to Macclesfield, whilst encouraging and showcasing local writers and performers. The next one in May sees us getting even bigger and even better, with no fewer than three award winning poets taking to the stage'
Appearing on May 15th will be Wigan's Louise Fazackerley, a poet known for her work on TV and radio as well as her live shows, which have included a national tour with the Bard of Salford, Dr John Cooper Clarke.
Joining her will be David Viney, described as one of the authentic voices of Manchester, who has performed his poetry all over the UK including at the massive Manchester Arena.
There will also be a special appearance from Cheshire based, John Lindley, who has won countless awards for his poetry over the years and has performed at the Ledbury Poetry Festival as well as many other prestigious festivals and events.
Mark the Poet added:
Since August 2023, Poetry Pandemonium has gone from strength to strength and has developed an avid and enthusiastic following. 'We always have an eclectic mixture of styles and subject matter, some funny some serious. It has converted many people previously uninitiated in the delights of live poetry,' he said. Recent guests have included former Glastonbury Festival Poet in Residence, Dominic Berry and the iconic Stoke on Trent Poet Laureate, Nick Degg.
The three-monthly event also provides opportunities for local poets to perform their work, with open mic spots available to anyone who fancies getting up and having a go.
Poetry Pandemonium will take place on Thursday 15th May at Mash Guru Back Wall Gate in Macclesfield, starting at 8.30pm.
