A burglar has been jailed after breaking into a Congleton flat.
Samuel Holliday, 32, of no fixed address appeared at Chester Crown Court on 23rd October to plead guilty to burglary with intent to steal and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
On 29th April 2025 Holliday entered the flat in Lacey Court and stole jewellery, clothing and medication.
A friend of the victim had been told by Holliday that he was going to break into the flat. They attended the flat and found windows broken and a number of items missing.
Holliday denied being responsible when he was arrested later the same day, but traces of his blood were found on an envelope located outside the flat and footwear prints were examined that proved very strong support for the view the trainer marks located at the flat were Holliday’s.
PC Helen Week’s said:
“The evidence against Holliday which put him at the scene encouraged him to plead guilty and he is now behind bars.
“I hope this goes as a warning to others that we are determined to find those commit crime in Congleton and put them before the courts.”
