Local MP David Rutley, spoke with Ms Jane McCall, the new Chair of Peaks & Plains Housing Trust as well as Mr Mark Howden, Interim Chief Executive, to discuss the important work that the Trust is doing to support its residents during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
During the meeting, Ms McCall detailed the important action that the Trust is taking to provide ongoing support for vulnerable people in the local community. Notably the Trust is continuing to provide emergency repairs for their residents and actively contacting all vulnerable residents over the age of 70 who live alone to ensure they are safe and well. The team is also continuing to carry out all scheduled compliance inspections and tests where they are needed and planning how they return to a full repairs service.
Since the Government’s easing of lockdown regulations, the Trust’s building contractors, Rowlinsons, are back on site on Park Green, Macclesfield where the Trust is building 67 homes for sale and rent.
Ms McCall is well qualified for her new role. In January 2018, Ms McCall became Chair of Tameside and Glossop Integrated NHS Foundation Trust and has also been the Executive Director of Neighbourhoods at Trafford Housing Trust for 10 years. She has also served as a Non-Executive Director for the Office for Legal Complaints (the Legal Ombudsman), and as Deputy Chair at the University Hospital South Manchester (Wythenshawe Hospital).
Speaking after the meeting, David said “It was good to meet the new Chair of Peaks & Plains, Ms McCall, who brings a wealth of experience to this important role. I was pleased to hear about the support work that the Trust has been doing in our communities to assist vulnerable tenants throughout this pandemic. Ms McCall has the experience and skills to help lead Peaks & Plains forward during these unprecedented times and I look forward to continuing to work with her in the months ahead.”
