Visitors rediscovering the town centre after the third lockdown can take part in a weeklong ‘Cuckoo in the Nest’ trail from 12th April.
The trail involves 20 businesses who will display a product from another shop in their window for one week – this product is the ‘cuckoo’ in the nest! Visitors can pick up an entry form from any shop displaying a ‘Cuckoo in the Nest’ poster in addition to the market hall. They will then guess which shop the product belongs too and once they’ve guessed all twenty drop a completed entry form into the post box at Little Waitrose. All correct answers have a chance to win £15 of Knutsford vouchers.
The idea for the trail was inspired by a Facebook post before Christmas where a former Knutsford resident, who now lives in Canada, was reminiscing about the trail which used to take place at Christmas.
Sandra Curties, Town Centre and Marketing Officer said “Councillors Lesley Dalzell, Jan Nicholson and Peter Coan all remembered the trail too and we decided to organise our mini version for the re-opening on 12th April. It is a Covid safe, simple and fun trail that raises awareness of some of the more unique products the town’s shops offer”.
Councillor Jan Nicholson added “I remember myself and my family taking part in Cuckoo in the Nest in Knutsford in the 1970s and I am delighted to see if return albeit at a different time of year. I hope residents will enjoy taking part and have fun guessing all the cuckoos!”
The trail finishes on Monday 19th April and the winners will be drawn the following day and contacted to collect their prizes.
