East Cheshire Hospice’s Volunteers’ Work Celebrated In Parliamentary Christmas Card

Macclesfield MP, David Rutley, has embraced the festive spirit by launching his Parliamentary Christmas Card for 2020, celebrating the work of East Cheshire Hospice’s dedicated volunteers.

David displayed the card outside the Hospice on Friday 4th December with its Chief Executive, Karyn Johnston.

The card features fun festive figures in handicraft design intricately made by volunteers at the Hospice. David was keen to highlight the invaluable work of East Cheshire Hospice during a year when it has continued to support many local families despite the challenges of the pandemic. He hopes that the card will encourage yet more people to donate to the Hospice, aiding fundraising for the vital work it does for the community by providing the very best end-of-life care.

David also hopes people will give generously to the East Cheshire Hospice Christmas Tree Collection, running on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th January 2021. This initiative is designed to help people dispose of their trees in an environmentally sustainable way. As a part of the highly popular service, people are asked to make a voluntary donation to the Hospice. Details can be found here.

Ahead of Christmas Day each year, David sends a Parliamentary Christmas Card to hundreds of people across Macclesfield, including local residents, civic and community leaders, schools, and volunteer and community groups. He also sends the digital card to colleagues across Parliament, as well as Ministers in Government.

David, who is a Vice-President of the Hospice, is a longstanding supporter of its exceptional work in the community. Established in 1988, East Cheshire Hospice has cared for thousands of local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families in our communities.

Following David’s meeting outside the Hospice he said, “East Cheshire Hospice plays a vital role in our community. It has touched so many peoples’ lives over the last three decades and continues to do so day in, day out.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped to make this card possible and the whole team at the Hospice for their invaluable work at such a challenging time. Now, more than ever, the Hospice needs our support and – wherever possible – our generosity.”
