The family of a woman who was murdered in her own home in Macclesfield have paid tribute to her.
Police were called to Gwyneth Carter’s home in Pearson Street, Macclesfield at around 6.48pm on Friday 18th July, due to concerns for her welfare.
Officers and paramedics attended, and Gwyneth, 72, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A Home Office Post Mortem concluded cause of death was from multiple injuries to the head and neck.
A 49-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody at this time.
Gwyneth was originally from Bollington but subsequently moved to her Pearson Street home.
Her family said:
"She was a hardworking, strong lady with a laugh you could not forget.
“She was well known years ago for playing darts for a local team, she was competitive and always up for a good time.
“She was stubborn, known for always standing her ground and protective of those she loved. In recent years she found comfort and companionship with her beloved dog, Oscar.”
