Works to make significant improvements to Victoria Park in Macclesfield started today.
The £100,000 project will involve a complete overhaul of the current facility, with many aspects of the park’s existing format being enhanced to accommodate new equipment including rope walks, balance beams, carousels and climbers.
The new facilities will be challenging for slightly older children, while also offering a safe designated toddler play space for younger park users. The revamp of the park will also see major improvements in terms of what is offered for wheelchair users.
Councillor Craig Browne, deputy leader of Cheshire East Council, said: “These improvements will make a very positive difference to the local community in Macclesfield and to visitors to the town.
“People using Victoria Park in Macclesfield deserve to have access to a facility for children and families that provides opportunities for all ages to enjoy.”
The project has been funded through a combination of £80,000 made available from local housing development funding and £20,000 from the Cheshire East Park Development Fund.
