Mike’s Poultry and Provisions has expanded into the stall formerly occupied by Edwards and Emmess Butchers in Knutsford Market Hall.
Ian Emmess and Wendy McKay, who run Edwards & Emmess since the market was set up in 1964, took the decision to retire from Knutsford Market Hall. Mike Brown who has been running the adjacent stall then took the decision to expand into his business into butchery and a delicatessen becoming The Market Butcher.
Mike Brown, said, “This is a logical step for me. I worked here since I was 16 and know all of Wendy’s and Ian’s customers and it is a great opportunity for me to expand my business. I love serving the good folk of Knutsford offering a personal service that you don’t find in the supermarkets and of course we deliver. I am also open to ideas for the delicatessen - if you want something let me know. Obviously, our expansion has coincided during the Covid-19 crisis and we have been exceptionally busy, but we are working closely with our suppliers to ensure we can still serve our customers.”
A formal launch with Knutsford Town Mayor Councillor Andrew Malloy has been postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. During this time only essential traders are open within Knutsford Market Hall and are as follows:
The Market Butcher (including household and pet) – 07900 412389
Jonty’s Fruit and Vegetables - 07812 484689
Plastic Free Weigh and Morgan Edwards Fine Wines and Spirit are both offering on-line and delivery and/or collection services and can be contacted via their websites – plasticfreeweigh.co.uk and morganedwards.co.uk
Sandra Curties, Town Centre and Marketing Officer said, “Mike is a real stalwart of the market and it is great to see his business expand. Our essential traders are working exceptional hard during the current crisis taking telephone orders and offering joint deliveries. We have been helped by some of the fantastic volunteers of WeAreKnutsford.org and we’ve been touched by the support from the public during this time”
Knutsford Market Hall is open every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8am to 4pm. The Market Café also open on Wednesday. Shoppers at Knutsford Market can find everything for dinner from, fruit and veg, wine and a great range of meat, poultry and fish. There is a café and you can buy women’s and children’s clothing and accessories and gifts. There is also a stall offering a weigh and save and eco products. Alongside this is a photography stall offering a full range of both consumer and corporate photography services.
