Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward following an arson attack in Winsford.
At around 11.20pm on Friday 29 March an unknown man threw a petrol bomb at a property on Leyland Walk.
The petrol bomb hit an external porch before bouncing onto the garden and starting a small fire which was put out by the victims and a neighbour. The fire caused minor damage to the exterior of the address.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in the area to come forward.
Detective Constable Lara Hill said: “Arson is an extremely serious offence – people can die as a result of fires being started deliberately.
“Thankfully, in this instance the fire was extinguished before it took hold. However, the incident could have been a lot worse than it was.
“I would like to reassure the community that we believe this to be an isolated incident and are determined to catch the person responsible and bring them to justice.
“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone who saw what happened or witnessed anything suspicious in the area to get in touch.
“We also want to hear from anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage that could be relevant to our investigation.
“The offender is believed to have travelled to the address on foot from Vauxhall Way before fleeing the scene in the direction of Darnhall School Lane.”
