Clean Teams from across Cheshire East came together recently for a dedicated Clean Team Conference – celebrating the incredible impact their volunteers have in helping to keep local communities clean and litter-free.
The conference was organised by Sandbach Clean Team Co-ordinator Mark Cook and Chair Michelle Mossford, supported by Cheshire East Council attracted more than 50 volunteers from clean teams across the borough.
A key focus of the event was recognising and celebrating the significant contribution Clean Team volunteers make throughout the year to enhance their local areas and community by regular litter picking, keeping their areas clean and welcoming.
While clean teams focus on their own neighbourhoods, the conference provided a valuable opportunity for like minded residents to connect with one another, share experiences and learn from one another.
The interactive and informative day, which featured talks and demonstrations, also recognised the shared pride and commitment of volunteers, who care deeply about their local environment.
Councillor David Jefferay, chair of Cheshire East Council’s environment and communities committee, said:
“This conference provided a really valuable opportunity to bring Clean Teams together. The dedication, passion and pride the Clean Team volunteers bring to Cheshire East is inspiring. A huge thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to litter pick and enhance their communities.
“Special thanks to Mark and Michelle from Sandbach Clean Team, who not only continue to lead important Clean Team activity in their local area but also took the time to organise the conference and bring Clean Teams together for a day of learning, discussion and celebration.”
Joint organisers Mark and Michelle, Sandbach Clean Team, said: “The recent clean team conference was a really valuable experience. It was inspiring to see so many local groups come together to share best practice, learn from each other and swap ideas".
"The range of guest speakers gave us all plenty of insight to take forward. It was also encouraging to hear from Cheshire East about the support available to help strengthen our efforts in the community”.
