Fowles Funeral Services have been asked to arrange an unattended funeral for a retired corporal from The Kings Regiment (Liverpool).
They were asked to arrange the unattended funeral for Robin, when he passed away in a care home in Winsford. They were told he had no surviving friends and only a cousin as next of kin. They were asked to arrange a direct service at the local crematorium.
It was by chance that they discovered that he was a retired corporal from The Kings Regiment (Liverpool). The undertakers contacted them and asked if they could send a representative. They have also put a post on social media to see if anyone could spare 10 mins to attend his funeral. The response has been incredible.
His service will take place on Friday 11th October and the care home, Winsford Grange, have asked to start his funeral there, so that staff and residents can say goodbye. They have offered to put refreshments on if anyone would like them.
Then, at 9am, the mourners will make their way to Birches Crematorium in Lach Dennis, where he will be piped into the grounds by Brodie Savage the Bag Piper. Brodie will then lead the procession into the chapel and Celebrant Guy Rands will lead the service.
Robert was in Kings Band, as a bugler and drummer, and ten drummers from the "Kings" Regiment will form a guard of honour as we enter.
Fowles Funeral Services have had so many lovely messages on Facebook from former Regiment colleagues who had lost touch and his many carers over the years, telling us about "Bob" and Guy will use these and information from Robert's cousin Phil to tell his life story.
The Birches Community Choir have kindly offered to attend and sing a couple of army "classics". To end the service the last post will be played by a 1st Lanc Regiment Bugler. The funeral party will leave the chapel to a piece of music by one of Robert's favourite artists, Johnny Cash.
Fowles Funeral Services have been amazed by the generosity and goodwill of people. Christies Florists will be supplying the funeral flowers and the Cheshire Bar and Grill pub will be opening from 10am if anyone would like to go there following the service to raise a glass in Robert's memory.
Its all in place now to give Corporal Robert the send off he deserves, now we just need you!
His service will start at 9:30 am on Friday 11th October at Birches Crematorium.
Everyone deserves a funeral, especially someone who served his country to protect others. Apart from his cousin he has no family, so we are hoping that on Friday you become his family.
If you can, please come to Birches Crematorium on Friday to say goodbye to a soldier. A soldier who you didn't know, but who served for you and your country.
