A large quantity of class A drugs have been seized by officers from Cheshire Constabulary’s Roads and Crime Unit following a stop check near Knutsford.
At around 1.30am today, Thursday 21 October, officers stopped a pink Ford Mustang on the M6 southbound between junction 18 and 19.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of what are believed to be MDNA tablets with an estimated street value of between £250,000 and £500,000.
The driver of the car, a 31-year-old woman from Swanely, and the passenger, a 38-year-old man from Gravesend, were both arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
The driver was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
The pair are currently in police custody where they are assisting officers with their enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Richard Johnson, of Crewe Beat Team, said: “This is a fantastic seizure and I would like to thank all of the officers who were involved in the stop.
“The corrosive effect of illegal drugs on communities cannot be understated. Behind every single drug deal there is vulnerability and misery and we are committed to tackling the problem and targeting those involved.”
